Installation of appropriate fire extinguishing equipment

Fire extinguishers are a first aid fire fighting appliance; you would not put a sticking plaster on a gaping wound just as you would not tackle a raging inferno with a fire extinguisher.

Fire extinguishers are worth their weight in gold when used as intended, to extinguish a fire in its developing stages. When a fire extinguisher is used in these circumstances small fires do not get the chance to become big fires causing disruption to business or worse.

Of course for an extinguisher to be used safely it must be installed in the right locations CFS Ltd can provide afree survey and quotation ensuring you have the correct numbers and types of extinguishers in the right locations.contact us for further details.

CFS Ltd Extinguisher Range

fire extinguishers

Water The oldest extinguishing agent known to man, for all class 'A' fires.
Water Plus As above but with enhanced extinguishing capabilities, a physically smaller much lighter 3ltr unit can be used where a 9ltr water extinguisher would have been used.

CO2 Specifically for electrical fires but also carries a class 'B' rating.
Wet Chemical Specifically developed for fat and cooking oil fires, no restaurant or commercial kitchen should be without one.

Powder The most versatile extinguishing medium there is, but should only be used where consideration has been given to the major clean up operation required after one of these units has been actuated. Not recommended for use in Hospitals, Residential or Nursing homes.

Foam Ideal for mixed risk office environments due to the spray nozzle complying with the dielectric test of BSEN3-7:2004. Often used as a substitute for water extinguishers. Also specifically for class 'B' burning liquid fires.

Hose Reels are sometimes requested by insurers or can be a requirement of a fire certificate.

CFS Ltd can supply install and service manual, automatic, swinging, recessed and pedestal hose reels.

NOTE: where hose reels exist or are required it should be known to all employees that fire doors are rendered totally ineffective if a hose reel hose is dragged through a fire door.

Because of this and the fact that the unlimited water supply could give rise to significant water damage or give a person false confidence to tackle a fire beyond its initial developing stage CFS Ltd do not recommend hose reels be installed unless it is a requirement of your insurer the fire authorities or as a result of your fire risk assessment.

Suppression and Extinguishing Systems

These types of systems are installed to cover high value assets or high fire risk areas, such as Plant, Machinery, Vital Data, Chemical Processing or Museum Artifacts These systems can knock down a fire in just 8 to 10 seconds.

If your requirement is to cover the type of risk described above or similar CFS Ltd can advise on the type of system for the risk and design, install and maintain the system for you.

Where gaseous systems are already installed CFS Ltd can perform the service and the mandatory room integrity testing required in BS ISO 14520.

Room integrity testing should be carried out annually or whenever structural alterations are carried out within or around the protected area.

Dry and Wet Rising Mains

Rising mains are an integral part of the fire fighting capability of your building and as such must be serviced annually and visually inspected every six months as stated in BS9990 2015 it is vitally important to have rising mains tested due to the immense amount of water damage that can occur from leaking or damaged mains or valves CFS Ltd can carry out service inspection and installation of rising mains.
